Custom Foot Orthotics

Prescription foot orthotics are custom made arch supports designed to treat various foot conditions. Many different styles and materials are available depending on your particular need. There are orthotics specific for each sport, as well as orthotics for everyday use, dress, casual wear and special orthotics for diabetic patients. Orthotics are often prescribed to treat arch and heel pain such as that associated with plantar fasciitis (heel spurs). Control of excessive foot joint motion and replacement of soft-tissue loss are other reasons to be fitted with a custom orthotic. Because our foot was not designed to function well on the hard flat surface we place it on each day, almost everyone would benefit from the use of an orthotic. Just as you would not try to use off-the-shelf reading glasses to correct vision problems, most people will find that purchasing an "arch support" at a drugstore is not going to give them pain relief and could even make the pain worse. Elyria Podiatrist - Foot Doctor Dr. Roger Friedman has over 30 years experience in fitting patients with the proper arch support for their foot and many insurance companies will provide coverage for the prescription orthotic Dr. Friedman uses.
