Arthritis

Osteoarthritis (wear and tear arthritis) can occur in many places on the foot. One of the most common areas is around the big toe joint. A stiff big toe joint can make walking very painful.
Conservative care involves the use of anti-inflammatory medications, special shoe inserts (custom orthotics) and sometimes cortisone injections. Our Podiatrists have had excellent results using an orthotic with a specialized modification to help limit motion at the painful joint.
If conservative care does not give satisfactory results, there are several excellent surgical procedures that can be performed. One such procedure uses a cobalt stainless metallic joint implant to replace the arthritic portion of bone and allow for pain-free walking.
Our Podiatrists have over 30 years experience treating patients with all forms of arthritis. Please call our office today at 440-934-8444 to make an appointment or fill-out our Contact Form.
